Welsh Games Academy

Welsh Games Academy

The Welsh Games Academy (WGA) programme is part of The Arcade Vaults and is a scheme to support the Games Industry within Cardiff and South Wales initially, expanding across all of Wales in the future.

We have launched the WGA as a way of bringing relevant local industry activities under our own care, ultimately to help grow and nurture everything we love about the creation and promotion of games. This will include:

  • Monthly Meet-ups (formerly Games Wales meet-ups and socials) on the last Thursday of each month
  • Free talks and workshops
  • Quarterly Game Jams
  • Showcases
  • Working with local FE/HE, companies and Welsh Government
  • And more!

Most significantly, we will be launching an Educational Programme very shortly. The WGA Educational programme will be a series of courses and workshops designed to promote and teach games design, programming and ancillary skills to a diverse range of people including young adults, children and those from a socio-economically deprived background. Prices will vary from chargeable to free (for those who apply to our bursary scheme).

If you are interested in signing up or know someone who would be, please head over to our registration form and fill in the details as accurately as possible!

The programme is graciously supported by the following organisations and part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government:
